 Key Questions and Christian Views about Jesus' ResurrectionMay 15, 2010

Before addressing this book directly, let me comment that it is primarily made up of three excerpts from Lee Strobel's longer book, The Case for Christ.
Many born-again Christians are reluctant to discuss their faith with skeptics, despite the Great Commission, and encouragement not to be ashamed of Jesus before men. This book will be a blessing for such uncomfortable believers.
Let me explain. If Jesus really died, was raised from the dead on the third day, met with hundreds of people for weeks thereafter, and was observed to ascend into heaven, that's pretty remarkable evidence for believing in Him as the Son of God, and the source of Salvation. This little book focuses in that area.
If you have met more than a few skeptics, they will almost always claim that the disciples stole His body or that no one ever saw Him alive again. This book contains much valuable information to the contrary.
Here are the key questions raised in the book and the authorities who addressed them:
1. "Was Jesus' death a sham and His resurrection a hoax?" (Dr. Alexander Metherell)
2. "Was Jesus' body really missing from His tomb?" (Dr. William Lane Craig)
3. "Was Jesus seen alive after His death on the cross?" (Dr. Gary Habermas)
If you really want to dig into any of these subjects, you'll probably find the information here to be too superficial to be totally satisfying. You can, however, use the footnotes to find meatier material, and I encourage you to do so.
As a believer, I found myself gaining lots more reasons to believe. What a blessing! Praise God!

A journalist investigates the "Resurrection of Jesus Christ". His "medical evidence","evidence of the missing body" and "evidence of appearances", is compelling; particularly when based on expert opinions. Experts include Dr. Robert J Stein, "one of the world's foremost forensic pathologist's", William Lane Craig, "among the world's foremost experts on the resurrection" and Gary Habermas, reputed to be "the most sophisticated defense of the resurrection to date..."
Strobel's conclusion beggars belief as fact rather than fiction; a stunning insight! "The disciples didn't merely believe in the resurrection; they knew it was true.". This "truth" was complimented by all the historical data examined. Hence as in trigonometry, it's a case of Q.E.D; what's to be proved, has been proved. Jesus Christ "is the one and only Son of God, who proved it by rising from the dead.". Better still Lee Strobel became a Christian.
A powerful book full of convicting evidence! So, to all atheists, "The choice is yours."!

This book provides facts to prove that Jesus' death and resurrection was real and true. The author Lee Strobel is a legal journalist, who started off as being a skeptic and eventually rounded up the investigation by later becoming a believer himself. He was seeking for the truth and he ended up finding Jesus! Notable and qualified persons, such as Alexandra Metherell M.D PhD, were involved in his investigation.
I have read the gospel several times regarding Jesus' ordeal and from this book, it helps me look at the facts surrounding these events and realises the immerse pain and sufferings my Lord had to undergo. This book is easy and quick to read and recommended for anyone. For those who seeks for the truth, he will find the answer. Otherwise it is just another book.
As an example, to prove Jesus' death was real, medical evidences and lingustics were relied upon and then correlated to biblical quotes. In the gospel of John, John's description of Jesus' cruxification ordeal was consistent with what modern medicine would expect to have happened. John mentioned blood and water splurting out of Jesus' body. In medicine, the symptons expected are for water to splurt first and then followed by blood. However, the reason why instead the order of blood and water were used in the gospel of John is because this is according to ancient Greek lingistics where the order of words are determined by prominence.
Last but not least, if we refer to humans' nature, if the apostles found that Jesus was a false prophet, they would have disbanded permanently upon Jesus' death. But instead they ended up dying and persecuted for their belief in Jesus!

Thank you again Lee! A shorter version than your other books but right to the point. A brilliant expose' rivaling any other Christian work. If all skeptics would look at your work Lee, the way you looked at Christianity, with an open mind instead of a biased and prideful view, God's Holy Spirit would intervene. But,as recorded in God's Word, of the seven deadly sins, PRIDE is number one! Thank you, Lee!

Les Strobel maybe the greatest literary apologist for the Gospel of our time. The Case for Easter takes its place alongside the Case for Christ and other workds by Mr. Strobel. Highly recommened both for the beliver and the skeptic.
