A bargain educational tool for Christian studies classes for children ages 6-10Oct 21, 2010
By Midwest Book Review "The Story of Easter," children's illustrated book and DVD is a retelling of the Easter story based on the International Children's Bible from the Read and Share Bible series. This simple retelling of the Christian story begins with Jesus borrowing a donkey (Luke 19:28-35) and ends with Jesus going to heaven (Luke 24:50-53; Acts 1:6-11). Each separate chapter has a small summary ending paragraph highlighted in different colors. At the end, the reader is asked "Can you retell the story?" Specific reference illustrations help to suggest the thirteen different chapters of the story. "The Story of Easter" comes with an accompanying DVD with six stories from the life of Jesus, including the First Lord's Supper, Jesus' Resurrection, The Holy Spirit Comes, Saul Becomes Paul, Phillip, and peter in Jail. Clearly "The Story of Easter" is a bargain educational tool for Christian studies classes for children ages 6-10. The buoyant, colorful illustrations help imprint the different chapters and parts of the story on young memories.

Appealing and InformativeMay 06, 2008
By MomO'Plenty I bought this book for my preschooler as an Easter present and enjoy it overall. The illustrations are engaging, and the Easter story reads well for that age group. The only awkward aspect is the treatment of the Last Supper wherein the author has Jesus requesting his disciples drink of the "juice of the grape". While I understand the tendency to appeal to Christians of all traditions, the truth is that Jesus and his followers (even Paul in I Corinthians 11) drank wine and understood it to be his blood. It's a mystery - not easily understood - but believed, none the less.
A great book for telling the story of EasterJun 16, 2011
By Just a Mom with her thoughts The Story of Easter includes not only a wonderfully illustrated book but also an animated DVD with 15 minutes of stories. The book and the DVD do not follow each other sequentially so you can read the book and watch the DVD separately. My children and I watched the DVD first and then we read the book. Even my 2 year old was interested in the DVD and book! I think it had a lot to do with all of the bright, colorful animation. My 7 year old was glued to the television while we watched the DVD and then I had him read the book to his brother. I love family time!
