Excellent presentation of the purpose of Jesus' death and resurrectionFeb 23, 2011

This is an absolutely lovely presentation of the reason for Easter. You'll not find the Easter Bunny, but you'll find the most lovely, gentle explanation of pure Gospel Truth in this beautifully illustrated and incredibly well-written book. This book is very straight-forward, easy to read and understand, and is absolutely a must-read for our Easter celebrations. In a world that wants to sweep absolutes under the rug in favor of making the facts fit the situation, it's a breath of fresh air for the Christian family.
Not only is this book excellent for our little ones, it's an excellent explanation for adults, parents, grandparents, extended family, and would be an excellent gift for a new Christian. I wish this book was around when my kids were little, but my teenagers now have read and love it. I look forward to them having this book to read to their children, and I look forward to eventually reading it to my grandchildren. The most important legacy I can leave for my children is knowledge of the truth of the Gospel. This book should be required reading for that reason!

God's Redemptive Plan Written for the Hearts and Minds of our Little Ones!Feb 22, 2011
By apatton If you're looking for a book with very general themes of "new life" that typically come with spring and the American celebration of Easter, you've come to the wrong place.
In "Why Do We Celebrate Easter" we see the picture of God's plan for the redemption of man from the beginning to the end. This beautifully illustrated book emphasizes the sovereignty of God in world history. For young children, who are easily captivated by the dramatic events of the crucifixion and resurrection (and understandably so) it's awesome that the author has added constant reminders of how God's sovereignty was at work in every step, " . . . and this was part of God's plan." In a world that wants to paint our Heavenly Father as an indulgent grandfather who winks at "little" sins and who is devastated, but not in control of world catastrophes, this is a breath of fresh air. While the events of world history have been devastating, it's important that our children learn to trust in our sovereign and omnipotent God. It's all part of His plan. Out of love, He created us. In His sovereignty, He knew that we would sin. As our righteous judge He knew that our sin required punishment. His loving plan satisfied His justice and made a way for us to spend eternity with Him. His plan was named Jesus.
What a blessing to have this concise and beautiful version of God's plan in the form of a book that speaks to the minds of our little ones!

Beautifully illustrated story of the meaning of EasterApr 19, 2011
By Cheryl C. Malandrinos

In this beautifully illustrated story, children learn that God had planned Easter a long, long time ago-even before the world was created. The book swiftly moves along from creation and the Fall of Man, to the birth of Jesus, His ministry, the Last Supper, Jesus' death and his glorious Resurrection.
Sutherland did an excellent job of providing young readers with a book that explains the Easter story in greater depth than many books do. The book opens by asking the reader, "Do you ever wonder what Easter is all about?" Immediately the author works to engage the reader. This is a nice style, and one I think young readers will enjoy.
Julie Hammond's artwork is lovely. The soft, warm colors keep with the peaceful tone of the book.
Why Do We Celebrate Easter? by Mark Sutherland is a great way to share the Easter story with the child in your life.
